The Schools’ Day Forum, was held on Monday the 24th of October at UniSA, and was aimed at students in Years 10 and 11. The theme of this Forum is “Young Diplomats”, and all activities throughout the day surrounded the central theme of international relations, diplomacy, with a strong emphasis on Australia’s bid for a seat on the UN Security Council. At this event, delegates had the chance to participate in a workshop focused on diplomacy and negotiation, hear from esteemed speakers about the state of international relations and Australia’s bid for a seat on the Security Council, as well as participate in a Joint Cabinet Crisis, wherein they could apply their newly learned skills in diplomacy.
This was a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn about and become involved in the decision making processes that affect citizens on a global scale, and to be introduced to UN Youth SA.
This highly successful event was convened by Gia-Yen Luong, and brought together over fifty students for a brilliant day.
UN Youth SA is able to run similar programs at high schools throughout the school year upon request. For more information, contact our Education Officer, Madeleine Piochaud, at saeducation@unyouth.org.au
